It’s that time of year again when Santa emerges from his workshop in the North pole with all of his elves and reindeer in tow. But along with a solid workforce at the helm of his Christmas operations, his workshop also comes equipped with an impressive range of warehouse equipment, enabling even the smallest of elves to access the most obscure of stock to deliver to children across the world.
Santa follows a very strict and tight schedule, so it’s important that his operations are not only efficient, but quick. But how does he do this without making any mistakes or hitting any snags? Answer: he makes sure he has the right warehouse equipment on hand to get the job done. So which pieces of material handling equipment does Santa rely upon? We’ll be taking you through them all today, in this article.
A fleet of forklift trucks
Forklifts are incredibly versatile pieces of warehouse equipment. Coming in a range of different sizes and offering an array of capabilities, it’s never been easier for a warehouse owner to transform their warehouse operations with the implementation of a fleet of forklift trucks. In addition to that, Santa also knows how important it is to be aware of climate change, hence why he only chooses electric and LPG-powered forklifts, over diesel alternatives.
However, diesel forklifts are on hand for when his elves need to cross the snowy landscape of the North Pole safely. As well as electric, diesel and LPG forklifts, Multy Lift are also able to supply VNA forklifts and multidirectional forklifts. This makes it as easy as possible for his elves to navigate around tight corners and in small spaces.
The cabin is also comfortable and ergonomically-designed, so even the smallest of elves can use the forklift for hours on end; which is especially useful as we draw closer to Christmas. In addition to many different models and capabilities, we have a range of forklifts available from different manufacturers, as well as new and used models that are suitable for every budget.
A collection of reach trucks
Reach trucks are especially useful in Santa’s workshop, because they do what they say on the tin. They enable the operator to reach stock effortlessly and effectively, no matter the shape, size or weight of the stock, provided you are using a reach truck with the right capabilities and functionalities.
Santa has reach trucks in his possession, with each one varying in lift height and weight. Not only does this make sure he can transport, load, unload and deliver items quickly, but it also keeps his elves safe, because they’re using a piece of machinery that will make short work of even the heaviest loads without tipping over or suffering any damages.
A selection of order pickers
Order pickers are specifically used for, you guessed it, retrieving specific items from the warehouse racking. If the elves have been given an order to collect a Barbie doll, they will use an order picker to retrieve that doll. They will then bring it back down and wrap it carefully before throwing it on Santa’s sleigh, ready for swift and efficient delivery. The great thing about order pickers is that they often come with a platform on which an elf will stand, while another elf will be behind the controls.
Some order pickers, however, can be operated purely from the platform by one elf. This is likely the model that Santa will choose, because it means that only one elf at a time is picking orders whilst another can be getting on with another job elsewhere in the workshop. The order pickers that Santa has in his workshop will likely be powered by electricity to ensure his carbon footprint remains at an absolute minimum, especially seeing as he is still using reindeer power to pull his sleigh.
An array of warehouse stackers
Warehouse stackers would be most useful at the start of the year when it comes to Santa’s workshop. This is because the elves are always hard at work making toys, so they need somewhere to store them. As soon as the toys have been made and have all been piled on one pallet ready for delivery next Christmas, an elf will need a warehouse stacker to be able to lift the pallet up and place it onto warehouse racking safely.
This all happens without the risk of the warehouse stacker or the warehouse racking tipping over, which gives Santa absolute peace of mind that his elves are safe at all times whilst operating in and around his workshop. Santa ensures he always has a complete collection of warehouse stackers, with each one differing in lift heights and weights, so every eventuality is covered in Santa’s workshop. This is how he enables the efficient and smooth-running of his operations.
A multitude of pallet trucks
Pallet trucks are available in both powered and manual models. Where Santa makes sure he has both at the helm of his operations, his elves benefit most from the powered pallet trucks because they can be operated effectively but effortlessly. This helps to keep his elves safe and also prevents injuries that come as a result of manual labour.
The last thing Santa wants before Christmas is for half of his elf workforce to be off sick as a result of injury. Whether manual or powered, pallet trucks are an effective and simple way of moving stock from one area to another, as and when needed. Elves use pallet trucks to move their wrapped presents over to the leigh loading bay.
